IT ELECTIVE(Assignment 1)

1. What are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur?
Being an entrepreneur or a technopreneur, there are many factors we have to consider in order for us to succeed in our chosen field and there are also times that we encounter failures, for without failure you will not realize your mistakes and we learn from our own failures.
As I am watching the movie “Pirates of the Silicon Valley”, I was really touched by Steve Jobs life; I can say so because as we watched and deeply understood the flow of the movie, Steve Jobs is an ordinary man that has a dream of being a famous or well-known and being a successful in his field someday, an intelligent man who is fond of making gadgets and a man with loads of dreams.
Let’s go back to the question, so first I will sight the factors that contributed to the success of Steve Jobs. The factors that brought him at the peak of his achievements are the following:
Hard work – for he never stops until he reaches his success and he really worked hard in order for him to achieve his dreams.
Determination – This means that remaining fixed on ideals and aspirations, despite setbacks and difficulties. Steve doesn’t look at the downbeat outcome of his work, he uses his failures as his inspiration for him to succeed, and he is determined to really make his work very competent. For me determination is really a big factor to succeed, because I know before the victory failure will come and determination will push you to give your best shot to achieve what you really want. Steve treated his obstacles as stepping stones instead of faltering blocks. He just kept on learning and inventing by constantly experimenting. Despite being someone who has nothing, he was still able to stand on his ground. He remained determined. He refused to be discouraged and never let disappointments get the ascendancy. That’s the good thing of being like Steve Jobs. The challenges spurred him on to greater effort.
Commitment – he is very committed to his work, because if you are committed to your work you love to do what you are doing and we can see that Steve do really have the passion on what he is doing and being committed to your work also implies that you are giving importance in what you are doing and you are making it as a center of your spotlight.
Guts- his guts contributed to Steve Jobs success for without his guts he won’t be able to pursue or he won’t be able to get his position in the company.
Self-confidence- for he believes in his capabilities despite the odds.
Persistence – for Steve Jobs was not swayed by opinions and views of others.
Steve Jobs also have these factors that contributed to his success, he achieved his success because he never, never give up, he keeps his self constantly motivated, he rise above his every failures, gain power through learning and he have a vision which is set to his goals.
He also go beyond the limit, because he really wants to be successful, he do what he really think is good, he doesn’t even focus on just one idea but instead he explored more, he goes beyond the limitations. Going beyond our limitations helps us to explore, experiment. Don’t tie yourself in just a few things, there are many opened doors, a room for exploring things, a room for improvement, and there is always a room for new discoveries. We just have to know our strength so that we can pursue those skills in us, we just have to keep in mind that “we are destined to be an employer and not to be an employee”.
Now let us now proceed to the factors that affects or contribute to the failure or the fall down of Steve Jobs. As I observed while watching the movie, the main reason that contributed to his failure is because of his attitude, as we have seen in the movie, he was being corrupt and that caused his fall down. He forgot to be honest; his sincerity towards others and also to oneself, humility which means that never boast of your or one’s accomplishments, and Steve Jobs even forgot to achieve total success with spirituality.
He became very selfish , he even steal the work of others without giving acknowledgment to the bona fide owner of the idea, this kind of manner is not good for he was disrespecting others right. As I searched about the movie, for me to be more familiar with it, and I have read a lot of things, about the factors that contributed to the failure of Steve Jobs career. In accordance with what I’ve read on the net, Steve jobs management style was always been being gossiped about. He was dreadful, egotistical, tough, incoherent, etc as they described him and through screening fully the movie entitled “pirates of the Silicon valley” he really are. If the great mentor says in order to have a soft connection with your employees, you must be nice to the people around you act as if you are not the boss but act as if you are a friend to everyone, but if you are going to ask Steve Jobs? All of that is just a funny story, for he has his own beliefs, as what is written previously he doesn’t want others to dictate what he has to do. Steve let his fame and wealth ruled and he forgot to be humble to those persons behind his career and success. As a technopreneur, Steven Jobs forgot his duty on how to be a responsible and a well-equipped man. Though Steve Jobs is an intellectual person he did not keep going his success, for triumph could not be enjoyed single-handedly, triumph is much cherished when you are giving it out with others. And for me these are the reason behind the failure of Steven Jobs.

lol! 2. How do you see yourself as a technopreneur?

cyclops Before I start answering question no. 2, let us define first what is the meaning of technopreneurship or a technopreneur. A technopreneur is an entrepreneur who is technology savvy, creative, innovative, dynamic, dares to be different and take the unexplored path and very passionate about their work, they don’t fear to fall. They take failure as a learning experience, a stimulator to look things differently and strive for the next challenge. They are not afraid to take the challenge and they strive hard to lead their life with greater success. The first time I heard my subject technopreneurship and the first time we had our class, the first thing that came to my mind is that technopreneurship is just like entrepreneurship but the difference is that technopreneurship is having a business through the use of technology. But when we finally started our formal class or lesson and tackled about the said subject which is technopreneurship, it comes in my mind that my idea about technopreneurship is definitely true, but it is not just like that because when we say technopreneurship it has a broad meaning, it is not only a business but it also talks about life. Well, I can say so that it talks about life simply because when you are a technopreneur, gaining wealth, fame and success is no longer far from your reach. And maybe someday a technopreneurship is not only talking or engaging of being an employee but it’s about you the technopreneur is the employer, and we know that a successful technopreneur will become the proprietor and not the employee. But we have to always put in our mind that for us to be a complete successful technopreneur someday is that we have to keep our feet on the ground when we are at the peak of your success. Well for me, as I can see myself as a technopreneur, I know that it would be challenging, I do hope that I could level to what Steven Jobs and Bill Gates did achieve and I will really try my very best to succeed in a right way without stepping other’s dignity. I know that if I will strive hard I will be the one of the best technopreneur in the world, promoting and improving the state of business for the benefit of the economy and when that time comes into reality, I would keep in mind that I have to maintain my attitude, I should love the people whom I am working with, respect and value the people behind my career and especially the people behind my success. For I know that if we are not paying attention about your attitude and your stepping others, that negative character would really pull you down from the peak of your success, always be humble and look back from where you have started. As a technopreneur, I will try to innovate business using technology as an aid to help other people in terms of job opportunity, to be innovative for the benefit of the civilization today. When I open a business or when I become a successful technopreneur someday, I would make sure that my company would cater or offer job opportunities, so that I can help those people who are jobless. I would try to be good captain to my ship. I will treat my employees right and give them all the benefits they needed. I would a just humane, I would make sure that my company would have a good atmosphere, a friendly environment between the employer and employees. There should a room for improvement, like listening to suggestions and comments of the people who acquire business in the company or those people who do transaction with the company itself. Surely my company will only transact business to those who have a goal and having the right or proper qualities to deal business with us. There objective should be in the right term and would not be harm to others. It should of good cost and for the improvement of the economy. My company must discover or detect any existence or presence of wrong of faulty motive with the course in my trade or business. Every transaction with the company should be scrutinized properly and should have the right objectives or can meet the qualifications of the company. And will soon to built, the company must be obliged to produce or yield an industry that will have a gigantic help in the technology for the rest of the time. It must bring out the best of every technology that will ascend. It must not be destructive to the environment and the people who will in the future will make use of it. By these qualities or the environment of my own company someday, I am very sure that I will be a responsible employer, a good friend to my employees. And I’m sure that by those qualities of being a good proprietor or owner, I know my followers, my co-workers and even my friends would make me as a role model or a good example for them to follow my footsteps as a technopreneur, an employer, an owner of the company, and I will be their inspiration for them to achieve their dreams, that even an ordinary person can be a technopreneur someday. If you will just believe in your strength, you have the commitment and the will and just have the guts to pursue the things that you want to achieve and surely it will come true. These qualities, overviews and some ideas are my insights about the question in number 2 of how do I see myself as a technopreneur someday. I’m hoping that someday these things that I have written right now would be in reality, and I also believe or I know that the only person who can make this things possible is myself. I just have to trust myself, believe in the power of dreams, my strength, and I would learn how to take challenges and most especially to seek for God’s guidance and put Him as the center of my inspiration.  affraid

bounce 3. Would you take the same career path that Steve Jobs took? Why or why not?

lol! My answer for this question if I would take the same career path that Steve Jobs took, is no! Because if I would follow Steve Jobs then it will lead in total destruction and even the path of Bill Gates that made the billions through piracy or by unauthorized use of patented work neither would I follow. Those people that were involved namely Steve Jobs and Bill Gates made their own lapses in their chosen field though Bill Gates made his way to the peak of his success. Well, for me, the path that I would follow is my own path, after I watched the movie, and this third question was given, it came up to my mind that if I’ll going to take my own path I won’t really make those lapses or errors that was committed by Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. I would really my very best in order for me to make my own name in the venture of technopreneurship without stepping other people’s right and I would try to follow my path for the benefit of our beloved creator, our Lord Jesus Christ, for my family, for the improvement of our economy and most especially for myself satisfaction. I will try to straighten or to untangle the twisted path of Steve Jobs and to put right the wrong of Bill Gates. I will live that everyone trusts me and would respect me the way that I have to be respected. I would apply the idea that what you have worked hard is worthy to have, so I would be very careful in with my actions for I will not do bad deeds for I know what the result of outcome, and surely, I would gain bad results. I am going to follow Bill Gates and Steve Jobs path there would also be a big possibility that I also who followed their path might fall like Steve Jobs and pirate other’s works like Bill Gates. For me, it would be very better if you will just make your own name, success is very much appreciated when it really come from your hard work, time and most especially your very own idea. It really feels good to be at the top or peak of your achievement when you know it’s a product of your hard work, your own sweat, your sleepless nights, it’s nice to wake up one day that many people recognizes your own work and salutes you, for what you have produced or manufactured.

Taking my own career path would be very challenging on my part, it would test my patience, ability, capability, determination, skills, will, how discipline I am, on how I manage my time especially on how I deal with people. I need skills, capabilities and ability to test the type of expertise that I am requiring to my determination and will, for if we will use these two factors, you can make all your plans or whatever is in your mind into reality. Patience is needed for if a fail in some aspects of my career, patience could help me try again or cope up with my failures and to make those failures as an inspiration to discover or take the unexplored opportunities or path. These are also the factors that I have to consider for my path. I also have to know my personality, according to the book that entitles “You Can Succeed” by David King, it is stated in the book that “you have to know yourself, your character, intellect, judgment, and emotion”. I profound Spanish writer Baltasar Gracian also wrote in the book that “You cannot master yourself, if you do not understand yourself”. I also have to rise above my failure, but first we have to know that failure is, well according to the book that I have read failure is just a life’s way of asking for a plan adjustment, it doesn’t mean that you won’t succeed, but it means that you haven’t succeeded yet, it doesn’t mean that you haven’t accomplished anything, it means you have learned something nor it doesn’t mean that you are ignorant, it means that you are knowledgeable enough to learn through various means. We have to put in mind the saying by Sal Marino, “Failure is never a failure, if you learn something from it”. In relation with this, I was touched by the phrase that I have read, for it can be an inspiration when we are suffering from failures and the phrase goes like this “I view failure as a detour”, just like taking a path that led to a different place from where I am wanting to go, but along the way, I gained useful information to help me find a path more aligned with my intended destination. So, see? Let us not lose hope because of our failure let’s take is as a learning experience. I will face failure with a smile, make failure as my friend. I know that no one wants to fail, but one of the secrets or key to success is not avoiding failure but rather embracing it. When the day comes that I can be successful someday and be at the level of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, I will do my very best for my own good and also for the good of others. I will not follow the footsteps of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs that they are just thinking for their own benefits. I would really work hard and inspire myself to achieve my goals and to take or to make it to peak of my success for me to prove to myself that the path that I’ve followed which is my path is definitely a right decision. And this success would make me proud, and would make the people surrounding me to be proud of my achievements too, the achievements that come from my own idea and my own hard work.
